@Merrie in my american (well cant say its ALL american schools but ive been told it generally works like this here) schools they teach all of algebra, arithimetic, geometry together generally up until 7th grade then they start focusing on seperate parts of math, begining with 8th grade suppose to be pre algebra, 9th algebra 1, 10th geometry, 11 Algebra 2, and 12th grade math is optional because you should have your 4 math credits by then. Now when someone is in honors they do the pre algebra in 7th grade and skip the normal aritihimetic nd genral math which is relaly just a brush up of what you learned in elementrary. Gifted/ap is usually 2 grades ahead for example what tuna (im asumming) is doing, is pre algebra (what i did when i was in 6th grade) what happened in my case ws in 8th grade when i was suppose to take geometry, i got out of the class because the cheerleading coach was my teacher and i didnt like her method of tecahing so i rather be held back and take algebra again (easy A having taken it once already ) but because the florida state tests dont have a algebra 2 year for the test because you dont take the test after 10th grade, they passed me onto alegbra 2 and why im taking geometry this year instead.
wow i generally dont read long posts and this one is confusing hope its clear for you though. |
