I noticed something you typed in the SB but you were gone so I thought I'd ask here so you'd see it if that's ok?

Laina_Heelz: first FDR...yea a BMX rider was like yo kids move so we left cuss it was BS...we went to another park, we wernt the only skaters there but everyone was cool...until the cops came and told us to scram...then finally we went to a parking lot where a lady told us to move cuss the cops were comming to arrest us...sooo it sucked |
Was just wondering, how can cops move you on from skating in a public park? - Surely that's not illegal is it?
The parking lot of a store is understandable, as that would most likely be private property belonging to the shop, but being moved on from the park is terrible.
As for the BMX rider, as long as you were playing by the usual "skate-park" etiquette of not skating across the path of where someone else is clearly heading, or hogging a given area, I don't see what the BMX rider's problem was - you should stand up for your rights and tell people you've as much right to skate there as anyone |

im not sure how the cops removed us from a park. They told us we were going to "hurt little kids" while as they drove INTO the park, they almost hit 4 :/
The parking lot we got kicked out of was a firestation parking lot where the people who are working parks their cars. Wasnt much to skate there anyway but still wanted to skate there. The parking lot is also directly across from the park so thats wy we decided to skate there.
As for the BMX FDR stuff...idk what the hell me and my friend was doing wrong...i mean i was setting up to go down one ramp and he was setting up to go down another. the BMX rider didnt even start going or moving so idk how we were in his way if we were going to be out of it by the time he started moving. The truth is (if anyone here rides BMX im cool with it) but the BMX ppl at FDR are truthfully 100% ignorant. They act like they run the park even though FDR was built to get the SKATEBOARDERS out of FDR. Yes, they have every right to be there, but they def dont have the right to run it like that when it wasnt actually built for them. idk why but i hate arguing because im only 15 and seems like everyone there who is bossy is older so i dont wanna start anything cuss ill probly loose :/ |

Yeah, once I got attitude from some other people on a park, but then a couple of times they've been really nice. But you're right, sounds like all the people you encountered that day royally sucked, and I'm sorry to hear that.
Oh well, don't let it get you down, and better luck next time eh?
I recently found a secret weapon for cases like this: I've got two of my big friends into Heelys - one is about 2m tall (6 foot 7) and the other is a serious body builder - he weighs about 3 times what I do and can lift about a couple of hundred kilo's (about 400 lbs in imperial units) - strangely, whenever I skate with those guys, I never get any hassle.
There was one time I was being daft and I was trying to heely too fast in a really wide open space, and when I came out of it, I was going too fast for a run, and so of course I fell flat on my face, and a dozen people saw, and were about to laugh, but because they saw my big friend none of them dared to, lol. (not that I would have minded, I was being a pratt and deserved laughing at, lol) |

Most parks are city owned and maintained (unless otherwise posted). Cops are city maintained. Because of this, city cops can kick you out of city parks regardless of the reason. Now most of the times they don't worry about that stuff unless it comes down to park hours, night time skating, etc in which I have been kicked out of a lot of parks.
As for the BMXers, well, the problem is they can move around a park quicker then anyone else can, period. Regardless of your skating preference or skill level, a BMX rider can get ticked off because they want to run the entire park. If it was me, I would tell them to get over it and fly a kite, but whatever. Thats what you gotta deal with when you go to a public park.
As for the parking lot, that one was pretty much explained by ME. Its a private owned lot, they can make the rules. There is a skateboard place around the Springs where skateboarders can skate on the stairs and sidewalk leading up to the store. I tried to heel there and they made the empty threat of calling the cops. Ironically, there were 2 boarders going down the handrail. But since its their store, I had to follow their rules. Its crappy, but its life... |
