I know many Heelys vert skaters prefer to sand down the heels on their Torches/Evo's so there's less chance of the heel catching and slowing you down. I myself did the same to a pair of Torches, although even with a power-sander it was quite tedious, so I just took a hacksaw to it, and it did the same job:

Normal Torch Heels:

Heels removed for Vert:

But since the heel/brake on Rumbles are (as standard) even lower, has anyone ever used the same trick to make Rumbles heels less likely to catch when tricking on flatland? I'm thinking of doing this to a pair of my own rumbles, but since I don't know what's inside the heel of Rumbles I didn't know if it would work, and don't want to ruin a perfectly good pair, so perhaps someone who has some well-worn rumbles (slice maybe?) could tell me. . . would this work:

Would they still work ok? Or is the heel more vital to the structure on Rumbles, such that they'd fall apart without it?

nah merrie that would ruin the style if you did it like how vert skaters do it
just do it to where the brakes don't bug you anymore

I would leave the brakes alone but that's just me. They'll wear down after enough time, but wearing down the brake purposely would possibly wreck the shoe out faster.

If you look at GT's, Atomics, and some other styles the brakes once they wear down too much they hit that hard plastic with the three gaping holes. I've noticed with my atomics because of that hole I've trappped more unwanted crap... Sand, moisture, rocks... Its pretty annoying...

So me, I would leave the brakes alone unless you're kicking vert... Then have a blast removing that sucker

Rightyo. . . . I'll just fine a huge hill and brake down it for the more natural brake-sanding effect, or take the husky out - that soon goes through the brakes. Very Happy Seems our husky has genetic knowledge that the word "mush" means go very fast, but I haven't yet found the husky word for stop Very Happy
