I took a relative trick or treating, but rather than be left out of the action, I went as the Grim Reaper, with a scythe (imitation, unfortunately) and full length robe that covered my feet so they couldn't tell how I was appearing to "float" instead of walk (of course, you know how I did it)
Some older kids were really freaked out when we glided towards them, so it was all worth it.
What are your plans? |

Yeah, a lot of people naturally assume that the verb should be "heely" when they first get a pair, as I did, it just sounds right. . . I wonder who decided it wasn't supposed to have a Y on the end?
One problem with the verb being "heel" is that "heel" also already means other things, for example in the dog-world, it's teaching your dog to be controlled: to stand still or stay close behind you, i.e., at your heel.
So, I can quite legitimately say I've taught my dog to heel. But no, I didn't need two pairs of Heelys to do it.
Plus "heel" sounds like "heal" - so it can also be confused with that.
"Heely" on the other hand, is unique, and could not be confused with the "heel" word for dogs, nor the "heal" word for getting better after injury.
So it seems doubly strange that we should be trying to make the word "heel" rather than "heely." The only reason I can think of is that words ending in "y" are often childish mispronounciations, like doggy, and horsey, and perhaps they wanted to make the shoes seem less childish? |

| well the little booklet says heel and besides that in english at least when you add an -ing you drop the y so it wouldnt be heelying but heeling and then minus the ing its heel. heely sounds like your a 5 year old kid not knowin how to speak english correctly yet and its plain out annoying heel just sounds so much better and right. |

True, "heeling" sounds more grown up, but I say if some people want to say "heelying" then there's no harm in it |

@Seth - Wow, political much? lol
Anyways, I went to work dressed up as that kid from chemistry class where the thing explodes on him. I had the charcoal on my face around the goggles... It was pretty cool, but a lot of people thought I was homeless... I still have yet to find what that was about... |
