So I finally went to a skate park! 180 Skate park to be exact. Not too much to do there. No really high half/quarter pipes or anything but it's not like I'm ready for them anyways. I went down a bunch of ramps, learned to drop in and turn around on pipes, and improved my manuals.

The day brought up some questions though. -_o

1. I got air bubbles. This is the second pair of megas I've gone through. Both went out in less than a week. What do I do? o_o Do megaverts get air bubbles as easily?

2. For footy 360's, how do you balance that? I've managed a 180 but I cant make it all the way for a 360. Do you need to slow down or something? Just need tips on that.

3. How are you supposed to balance when grinding and which foot lands on the rail first? I hurt my middle and ring fingers on my left hand really bad trying to grind because my feet just slid out from underneath me. Does your weight need to be mostly on the foot that hits the rail first? Do you need to lean into it like when you drop in?

Extreme thanks to anyone nice enough to read all that! Very Happy lol

Thats awesome that you dropped in your first time! For the air bubbles..idk why they're breaking so fast. They should definetly last longer than a week. I don't think megaverts will get air bubbles at all. You can always just call heelys about replacements for your wheels. For footy 360's the best way I've found was to make sure your footy is good. Its like before you could spin on both feet you had to be able to heel straight. Once you can do that just keep doing footy 180's. Do those a lot and before you know it footy 360's will come easily. For grinding I would say try and land both feet on at the same time..that would be the best but anything will work. Just make sure you can land on your plates every time you stall a rail. Once you can do that grinding should come easily. This vid may help you out some.

Whoa, thanks for like...a perfect response. =D

I think the bubbles are because I'm about 250lb and they just aren't make for that big of a heeler. I tried calling heelys once and getting replacements but I totally got shut down. Laughing I'll probably just need to learn to make megaverts.

That makes sense about the 360. I'll just have to keep working on my footy until it comes to me.

Grinding has been a big fear for me. xD I can actually grind on my square rail in my back yard(and even do royale and ufo!) but it was so much more slick at the park. I always land with either my right or left foot first. Maybe that's why I'm sliping. I should probably practice stalling more because I miss the plates alot though.

Megaverts are skateboard wheels- there's no inner core/outer core setup for air bubbles to even be possible.

Are there any downsides at all to megaverts?

Hey Kage.

Weight, Bubbles and Wheels

250lb. Hmm. You need MegaVerts - no question. Otherwise MegaWheel will die because skating vert is a lot harder on the wheels than flatland.

Footy 360

Footy 360. Pivot on your lead foot. Spin away from your lead foot. So if you lead left, pivot on the left foot. Pick up your back foot and spin in the (opposite direction of your lead foot). This helps you achieve counter-balance. Land switched. That is, land with (what is normally) your rear foot in front.

When I footy 360, I actually switch to my off-foot. This when when I'm done I'm using my "strong" lead foot again. That's just me.

Grinding

There is a simple formula to the grind. Your weak foot goes on first. Then your strong one (where most of your weight will be). But the hard part is that this varies for each different grind. For most of the simple grinds (frontside, royal, farf, UFO), its the back foot. So you'd land with your front foot first (front in relation to the direction you're going). And then land your back foot second.

I hope that helps.

It helps. I'm gonna go try a 360 right now. Rolling Eyes

Edit: Ok, I don't quite have the 360 down yet but, I understand how to do it now(if that makes any sense). Basically, it's achievable. =D

I'll get to try grinds tomorrow. Thanks for the tips guys!

1. You can't fix air bubbles, just buy more megas. And no, megaverts don't get air bubbles b/c they're made out of skateboard wheels, which are much harder.

2. I usually do footy 360s slow...but wait......if you can't do a 180, how do you expect to do a footy 360? O_o

3. When balancing while grinding, put your back foot/front foot weight distribution at about 60/40, and make sure either your front foot or both feet land first. Try to keep your body parallel to the surface you're grinding on

it doesnt matter what order you learn your tricks in.

HeelyKy's son learned footy 360 before 360.

i learned 360 before 180. (helps get the feel of spinning)

I could do footy 180 months before I learned regular 180.

I know I cant fix air bubbles. That's all over this forum. =P

I dunno how you got that I can't do a 180. I said I can.

Thanks for the grind tips. ^_^
