Nah, everyone thinks they look different or ugly in certain pictures, I know I do when I see some pictures of myself when in truth they are probably quite normal pics. 
IMO you don't look ugly in your pic, although as someone who was once a keen photographer I notice it's an unusual camera angle: did you take it yourself by leaving your camera on top of something or did someone else snap you from above like that?
And I was always curious why this thread was called "...cut off sleeves" - do you mean that you actually cut the sleeves off your top with some scissors so that you could get elbow pads on easier (I did this with one of my tops and one pair of my trousers) or did you just mean you were wearing a sleeveless top that came that way? |

personally, i don't wear elbow pads except when at heelys functions. i only wear knee pads and helmet...and most of the time you can't see my knee pads. i think it's just to say they are badass (which i agree 500%)...and it's probably also a comfort thing. feels good when you don't have anything blocking your arms...or it's just a personal thing for me, idk.
we have an awesome line of heeler girlz in our lil group...i like it. it's good for the sport!! keep it up girlz!! |

| I'm honestly gonna have to say that elbow pads are pointless 99.9% of the time your skating, and you'd still survive the .1% of it without them, i just wear em cuz it doesnt cause any discomfort or anything to me so whatevs |

I should start wearing elbow pads when I freeline. Anyone who's seen my latest freeline vid knows what I mean XD
But I usually don't like to wear anything but a helmet when I heel. On flatland, I don't wear anything, but on vert, I reluctantly wear a helmet. I probably wouldn't wear it for comfort reasons, but I've been bumped on the head enough to put it on anyway XD |

For about 6 months i didn't use elbow pads. But, every time i skated vert i ended up going home with half pipe burn (?) and it developed into a scab. The next time i skated i would end up falling on the scab again and it just ended up getting worse and worse. I decided to just wear elbow pads.
If i were to every skate vert without protective pads i would feel reallyyy unsafe. |

it was too hot for pads today, so I didn't wear anything and felt fine. I can't try the really crazy tricks that I'm not sure if I can land though.
The same thing happened to me when I started out. I have a gash in my elbow that was cut open like 5 times from falling on heelys XD
(...which also happens to be THE EXACT SAME PLACE I fell on in my freeline vid)
maybe I should stop sticking my elbows out when I fall lol |

I used a webcam.... this was one of the very first posts I made... EVER. So since that shirt was a tee shirt... and I cut the sleves off it was titled "Heelygirls... YADDA YADDA YADDA" . But yeah I use to take pics with my webcam and i didnt know how to really take good ones... heres a more recent one...
notice the image quality, it's note great... and if i look different... its the hair... its died brown =] |

Its funny - once you're used to it, it seems really natural. Besides, if you trust your equipment, you can focus on the trick. We (TEC) bail pretty hard. But we're alway good on wearing our gear.
