Okay, let me make sure everyone knows what I'm talking about here:
The Mega and Big Deuce wheel-and-axle setup is compatible with the same wheel well. That is, if you can put the whole wheel and axle in a shoe for Megas, you can also put the Big Deuce in, and vice versa. (And Evos actually come with "Mega Style" heel plugs.)
However, the axles are not compatible with each other's wheels!
This is because the Mega's bearings are closer together than the Big Deuce's.
On the left is the Big Deuce axle. On the right is the Mega. The lines illustrate where the inside wall of the axle comes into contact with the bearing.
What this means, in layman's terms, is that if you put a Mega axle in your Big Deuce, it will be a tight fit in your wheel well- and if you put a Big Deuce axle in your Mega, the wheel is going to be loose no matter how hard you try to tighten it down, and bounce back and forth, and cause you no end of consternation until you figure out just what the hell is going on.
(Yes, I learned this the hard way. Can you tell?) |
