My torch wheels my have a busted bearing. One of them makes a scraping noise when I roll on it. Also, if I go to wipe the bearing clean, one of them seems loose, it will rotate as I try to clean it off, while the other 3 do not do that. I'm guessing I need to replace them, but I'm not sure how to get the bearing out without resulting to brute force which could damage the wheel. I also would like to know what bearing would be good to replace them with. The axle is in perfect shape, and it seem like the internal wheel parts are okay too, just the bearing. Advice on bearing replacement and removal would be welcome! They are coin axles.... which unscrew really easily.

Does it still squeak/stick when it is off the ground (so no pressure on the wheel)? This could be a sign of an air bubble which can sound the same as a spun bearing.
For the bearing removal on a coin axel, you have it pretty easy.
Remove the axel and stick a screw driver in the hole
You will feel a divit where the bearing meets the spacer
Pry up to pop it out...
The bearings sit in the wheels like this:

If the bearing is messed up anyways, don't worry about fuckin it up...
You could always go Merlyn on it too (check out his MegaVert Vid) |

Sweet that sounds pretty easy! Now I just need to get a replacement bearing. I hear Bones Reds are good. I assume I want all four to be the same type?

That would be the best way to go is to replace all 4, keeping the good 3 as replacements or whatever
Bones are good bearings... The one thing to remember though is not to let money influence your skating... Always buy the best because if you buy the shit you'll be spending more money replacing it in the long run... |

Yeah, I kinda figured that shitty bearing could mean death, if they fail catastrophically! It would suck to decide to play at the skate park, get a nice carve going and then have a bearing fail cause I bought shitty ones!

Yeah, I love that . . . "You're gonna have to do it the medieval way" [- Merlyn]
The "going Merlyn" method is useful if the axle won't come out, and using a screwdriver or the original axle to "push" it out from the other side is also sometimes possible, however, I made up a little trick which (for me) makes it much easier to remove bearings without damaging them or myself, so hoping this helps you too, I'm going to share my little secret with you
I originally made that whole post here just to help wondercheese, but I realised it may help others too, so I gave it it's own thread so as not to hijack or whatever |

Those wheels are starting to get air bubbles, but the bearing was def. busted. It didn't spin well, with pressure, or without. The bearing sounded scrape-y even when I was playing with just the wheels. Also, when I pulled the bearings, I could hold the middle part of 1 and the rest of it didn't turn, while the other 3 the middle part turned independently. It might just need cleaning, but I don't know how to do that....

| There's plenty of vids on YT regarding wheel cleaning, but the best route would be to just get new ones... When bearings die (especially the cheap shit HSL decides to put in their wheels) its just time to get new ones. They can be saved, but the effort it takes to tear apart and clean could easily justify buying new ones |
