Yesterday I turned the big THREE FIVE so my big sister (who is the big FOUR-OH) decided it would be a grand idea to take me to see my hands down favorite band, Flogging Molly (who just so happened to be playing in my area). So she surprised me with 2 tickets and ressys for dinner for me and her. She had it planned with my fam and everything.

About 4:30, she picks me up and we head to the Norva and Kelly's Backstage Tavern. We order food and much Guinness. We get our grub on and get early entry into the show so we can get semi VIP spots upstairs in the balcony. Success!! We squeezed our way into dead center perfect balcony spots. (standing room only, so we stood for quite some time). A few hours later, the opening band (Beat Union) comes on. They were pretty damn good! A second opener (the Loved Ones... meh!) did their thing. The energy level in the building was reaching insane levels. The lights went low, the stage lights went blue, and everyone went nuts. It was almost 5 hours of full on good times. We knew all the pub chants and clap spots (irish music is fun) because we've both been FM fans for years. We kept up with all the young people without a problem.

I left the show a bit dizzied and blurred from the Guinness and adreneline but I knew it was probably one of (if not THE) best show I had ever been to.

It got me thinking... I hope all you kids get to experience real music in a real venue at some point. There is no feeling in the world like enjoying your favorite tunes live and direct from the mouths and instruments of the people who play them and sharing that experience with 1000 of your best friends!! The floor downstairs was a mob of bouncing, swaying youth that were completely enveloped into the music and the scene. It was a calming moment of bliss. I honestly almost let out a tear when I thought about all the times like this I have had in my time but I really wish I had done more of this sort of thing. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some really epic shows (NIN, Sublime, Nirvana, No Doubt, Bush, there are a ton more) but there is just something euphoric about a good show.

Enjoy your youth. It only happens once.

I Got to meet dennis Casey. HAHA! The people that I were with, were too drunk to take a picture...I got a picture of my sister though, hahah. Very Happy

I'll put it up in a sec. MAN! They're my favorite band, I've seen em 3 times so far...One in Denver, then salt-lake..then here in OKC.
