I ain't noticed it so much in my Torches, but I gave someone a brand new pair of glitz's a couple of days ago and after just a day of vert practise the heels were smooth and flat, not an millimetre of the grip pattern left on them. Is this normal with Glitz's - I guess they're not designed for hard wear like the torches?
HSL, if you're reading, you should make Heelys with much harder plastic in the heel for soft-braking, or maybe even a metal insert or something. |

| Haven't you been reading, ME? Most of the serious vert heelers here intentionally SAND DOWN their heel brakes because of that. |

| Yeah, ME. Alot of us have no brake whatsoever and some us can literally touch our heel *Insert haileys brakes picture here* Having brakes and dragging on vert completely throws off your momentum and defintely doesnt help with pumping or trying to do tricks tru. |

I have indeed been posting and reading here lots as you can probably tell but I never came across that tip - I guess as Dave said no matter how much I learn about heelys there will always be something more I haven't learned yet, and no matter how much I read the forum there will always be some little tips that slip by me.
But thanks for the tip about sanding down the brake: in this case it isn't me who needs to do it (as I tend to keep off the brakes when dropping in) but rather was my young friend who I taught to drop in: I hadn't noticed how much she was relying on her soft-brake. . . now that I have tho it should be possible to correct, so thanks for that.
As for sanding down the brakes, well, seems it has already been done simply by her doing vert "wrong" - is a pity, the shoes looked quite lovely when brand new, and after just a day or two they look knackered, but at least we now know that this wear is actually a useful thing when it comes to avoiding braking, even if it looks a little ugly.

Weird that HSL haven't done enough about it like having a metal soft-brake that wouldn't wear, but I guess that would be bad for the ramps.
So, basically, once I teach her not to rely on the brake during a drop in, the wear should decrease.
Whilst we're on the subject of vert speed, can anyone point me in the right direction of a thread about how to pump correctly for best speed? I have been meaning to ask but I'll bet it's been discussed to death long before I joined here, so yeah, if someone would drop a link to send me in the right direction that would be appreciated. Thanks again |

Cheers that's perfect, I bookmarked it for later.
Thanks again, don't know where I'd be without you guys. . . wait, yes I do, I'd still be heeling along in a straight line only ever using my left leg in front, or more likely have gotten bored of that and lost interest in heelys |
